The mountain lion isn't known to be the social butterfly like you see with other big cats that travel in prides. Although there have been recorded friendly encounters between females, it is not common. Mountain lions are known to only join the presence of other mountain lions during periods of mating and a cub usually separates from its mother around two years of age.
