A Stepwise Guide to Make Fishing Knots

The right fishing knot for the right purpose makes a lot of difference. It decides between the landing and catching of the catch for the fishermen. A master angler will definitely know about where to use a particular knot. Do keep in mind that each knot has its own varying purposes. Let us now drill down on the different types of fishing knots as found below:

To begin with is the terminal tackle-stronger knot:

Uni-Knot

1. The line is passed through the eye of the tackle for at least two times leaving approximately 12 inches of the knot.

2. The tag end is then looped around the standing line and then passed through the loop 8 to 10 times.

3. The tag is then pulled tight ensuring that the wraps are snugged down accurately.

4. The tag end is trimmed after pulling the standing line to set the knot against the tackle eye.

Double Uni Knot

1. This knot is used to tie PowerPro to monofilament of the same diameters.

2. Place the PowerPro and the monofilament material parallel to each other. They should be in the measurement of approximately 12 inches to 18 inches and they must face opposite directions.

3. After looping the tag end and the mono around both the lines, pass the tag through the loop for 5 to 6 times. Then pull the tag and make sure to tighten the knot and that the snugs are done neatly.

4. Pull out the standing lines with the knots and place them tightly.

Finally trim the PowerPro end

Wind on leader

This knot is used for a loop to loop connection within a PowerPro and Wind-on leader

1. Make a Bimini twist on the PowerPro main line

2. Pass the loop on the Wind-On leader through the loop of PowerPro

3. Together the main line and the wind on loop should be held with two fingers and the pass end of Wind-On is passed through the main line loop. Again the end of the wind-on is passed through the main line loop.

4. This is repeated several times

5. Both the lines are then pulled slowly by making even lengths and cinch to complete.

Setting your drag...

to make full use of PowerPro's amazing sensitivity without risking damage to your equipment, try one of the following tips:

• Always set the drag to utilize the weakest component of the tackle system
• Should set the dag to match the size of the line
• Set the drag to 1/3 of the line's rated strength
