Create Your Great Outdoors Month Playlist Using These Songs

Since June is National Great Outdoors Month, it’s the ideal time to create a great new summer playlist using music that fits the outdoor theme. Whether you’re fishing, boating, hiking or camping, having the right music along sure seems to make time spent with friends and family even more memorable.

Here are seven songs that are perfect for creating a great outdoors month playlist:

Pontoon, Little Big Town — This catchy song about floating along on a pontoon is sure to lift your spirits. My favorite verse is towards the end where this country duo sings, “5 mile an hour with aluminum side, wood panelin’ with a water slide, can’t beat the heat, so let’s take a ride.”

Five Pound Bass, Robert Earl Keen — This is just a simple, but fun, fishing song about one man’s on-going quest to catch a five pound bass. Wouldn’t great outdoors month be a whole lot greater if you just had a photo of yourself holding a five pound bass? Get out there with your spinnerbaits and Texas-rigs!

Just Fishin’, Trace Adkins — Get a tissue out. This country song about a father and daughter fishing together will pull on your heartstrings.

Sitting on the Dock of The Bay, Otis Redding — Who could leave out this classic tune by Otis Redding? Most everyone knows the words, so click play and get your friends or family to sing along. “Sittin’ in the mornin’ sun, I’ll be sittin’ when the evenin’ comes. Watchin’ the ships roll in, then I watch ’em roll away again, yeah.”

Bob Away My Blues, Clint Black — Most anglers can relate to those days when they have “bobbed away the blues.” This song was written by Toy Caldwell and recorded by the country artist Clint Black (it was also recorded by the Marshall Tucker Band in 1975).

Only the Ocean, Jack Johnson — This song is as smooth as a gentle rolling tide. If you’re ready to relax and unwind at the beach or on your boat, just close your eyes and let Jack’s voice carry you away into a state of ocean-loving bliss.

Knee Deep, Zac Brown Band feat. Jimmy Buffett — Any cares or worries you have are sure to be put in proper perspective as you listen to this tune by the Zac Brown Brand featuring Jimmy Buffett. The best verse ever is, “Only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair.”
