Try out the hottest trend: bow fishing!

Post

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - There's more than one way to catch a fish.  Trade a rod and reel for a bow and arrow and give bow fishing a try. If you love the outdoors, fishing and hunting, learn how to combine them all with bow fishing.

Bow fishing is the use of archery equipment to shoot fish. A line is attached to an arrow and shot using a bow to impale fish. This technique can be used on non game fish like gar and especially against invasive species, like Asian carp!

The Missouri Department of Conservation offers a two session class geared toward beginners.

The first class is on July 28 and will be classroom instruction to cover techniques, equipment and safety.

The second class, on July 30, will be hands on field experience bow fishing on the water.

The program is free and we provide the equipment. You must be age 12 or up, and permits are required.
